Gene Wilder plays Teddy, a remarkably unremarkable man who glimpses the woman of his dreams (Kelly Le Brock), as she prances Marilyn Monroe - style over an air vent in the street. As he watches her full red skirt flutter seductively about her shapely figure, Teddy finds himself lost in her dream-like vision of loveliness - and he emerges hopelessly obsessed with her!

Teddy's infatuation leads him to pursue the "woman in red" through a hilarious obstacle course of mishaps and misunderstandings. Charles Grodin is the best friend who helps track down the object of Teddy's obsession. Gilda Radner plays Teddy's vengeful wife who wants to repay him for his emotional infidelities.
